shuffling gait

If you have a shuffling gait with Parkinson’s some help can be attained by doing hip exercises to lift your leg through the swing phase of gait. 2 exercises are recommended. 1) stand while holding onto chair and lift hip so your foot barely comes off the ground. Do 10×3 reps each leg. 2) Holding unto chair swing leg out to the side. Do both legs 10×3 reps.

Shuffling is a result of weak hip muscles. Try these exercises for a week. Your shuffling should decrease. When walking concentrate on lifting the leg through swing phase until heel strikes ahead of you. Make sure you push off with your toes to move forward.
